Mackenzie Neal is still in the hunt for a championship after the opening round of the Kentucky PGA Girls Junior Amateur.

The Madison Central graduate shot a +2, 74, on Monday and is in sixth place.

The event is being played at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown.

The final round is set for today.

Faith Martin of Rockfield and Addie Westcock of Campbellsville are tied for the lead after the first round. They both shot -2, 70, on Monday.

Several other Madison County golfers are participating in the event.

Reagan Clark is tied for 16th after posting a +7, 79, on Monday.

Elizabeth Eberle (+14, 86) is tied for 32nd. Claira Ramsey (+16, 88) is tied for 36th. Kasey Cameron (+18, 90) is tied for 44th. Allison Shaffer (+20, 92) is tied for 49th and Lydia Harrell (+37, 109) is tied for 56th.

The Kentucky PGA Boys Junior Amateur is set to get under way today at Bardstown Country Club.

Several golfers from Madison County are entered in the event, including Cameron Travis, Cooper Eberle, Mason Hamrick, Gavin McKune, Clay Pendergrass, Warren Thomis and Landen Howard.
