Only six teams remain undefeated in Ohio Valley Conference competition as play resumes after the holiday break.

A pair of those squads are scheduled to meet on Wednesday at McBrayer Arena.

Eastern Kentucky University (3-3, 2-0 OVC) is set to take on Eastern Illinois (3-3, 1-0) at 5 p.m.

The broadcast will be available on ESPN+

The Colonels have not played since a 79-50 setback to No. 16 Northwestern on Dec. 22 in Evanston, Ill.

All three of EKU's losses this season have come against ranked opponents -- No. 15 Indiana, No. 5 Louisville and Northwestern.

Dafne Gianesini had 14 points off the bench of the Colonels against the Wildcats. EKU shot 38.5 percent and had 33 turnovers.

Northwestern used a 15-0 run in the second quarter to take a 47-20 lead into halftime. The Colonels had 20 turnovers at halftime.

Jayla Johnson played just more than eight minutes against the Wildcats before leaving with an injury.

Just hours before the game, the senior transfer from Texas State was named the OVC Newcomer of the Week. She averaged 17 points, six rebounds, two steals and one block a game in wins over Chattanooga (Dec. 18) and Morehead State (Dec. 14).

Johnson leads EKU in scoring (10.5 points a game) and (5.0 rebounds a game). Freshman Alice Recanati is averaging 9.0 points and 4.2 rebounds a game, while freshman Kendall Wingler is adding 8.5 points a game.

The Colonels will be looking to move to 3-0 in the OVC for the first time since the 2016-2017 season.

Eastern Illinois rolled to a win in its OVC opener on Dec. 18 at home. The Panthers were up 22-7 after the first quarter and went on to pick up a 73-58 victory over SIU-Edwardsville.

EIU's Abby Wahl recorded her fourth double-double in the win, collecting 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Panthers also have wins over the University of Illinois-Chicago and Western Illinois, while falling to Minnesota, Northwestern (93-57) and Northern Illinois.

The Colonels were swept by Eastern Illinois last season. The Panthers won 83-63 in Richmond on Jan. 9 and rolled to an 85-38 victory at home.
