Four players from Madison County were named to the 11th Region All-Tournament team on Wednesday night in Lexington.
Madison Southern's Tessa Juett, Kayla Pigg and Kennadi Story were honored, along with Madison Central's Abbey Mayes.
Juett, Pigg and Story all made big contributions as the Lady Eagles advanced to the region final for the first time in 14 years.
Juett was 2-for-4 and scored two runs as Southern beat Western Hills, 5-1, in the first round. She also earned the complete-game win in the circle against the Lady Wolverines, allowing only two hits with striking out 12 batters.
Against Scott County in the semifinals, Juett was 2-for-2 with a home run, double, two walks an RBI and scored three times. She also pitched two innings, allowing five hits.
In Southern's 12-3 loss to Woodford County in the championship game, Juett — a sophomore — was 1-for-4 and scored a run.
Story was 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI and scored a run against Western Hills. In the 10-9 win over Scott County in the semifinal, the junior was 1-for-2 with a home run, a walk, four RBI and scored twice. Against Woodford County, Story was 2-for-3.
Pigg had a walk in the win over Western Hills. The junior was 1-for-3 with two RBI against Scott County, while also pitching five innings and striking out six batters.
In the championship game, Pigg was 1-for-3. She also pitched four innings, allowing seven hits.
Mayes turned in a remarkable performance in a 2-1 11-inning loss to Woodford County in the first round of the 11th Region Tournament.
The junior worked 10 1/3 innings and threw 142 pitches. She allowed eight hits and two runs with no walks and 10 strikeouts.
She was 0-for-3 at the plate, but drew two walks.
