GEORGETOWN -- Hunter Buchanan was able to pitch out of big-time jams in each of the first two innings Tuesday against Lafayette in the semifinals of the 11th Region Tournament.
In the third inning, the Generals finally broke through.
Austin Blake hit a three-run home run that busted up a scoreless game and gave Lafayette a spark that carried them to a big win.
The Generals (28-11) earned a spot in the 11th Region Tournament title game with a 11-0 win over the Eagles (16-15).
Lafayette will take on Tates Creek in the championship game today at Scott County.
Madison Southern had just three hits off Josh Halterman, who earned the complete-game win. He did not walk a batter and had seven strikeouts.
Britten Robinson was 2-for-3 with a double and Tanner Hembree was 1-for-3 for Southern.
Buchanan pitched three innings, allowing three runs, three hits and seven walks with four strikeouts.
Kruise Newman pitched the final four innings. He allowed five hits, eight runs (three earned) and three walks with five strikeouts.
The Generals scored four times in the fifth, once in the sixth and three more times in the seventh.
Halterman was 3-for-4.
