Eastern Kentucky University senior guard Ty Taylor was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Taylor averaged 16 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks-per-game while shooting just under 41 percent from three-point range over three games last week.
The graduate transfer from Kansas City opened the week by leading EKU with 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a 99-63 victory over Alice Lloyd College on Tuesday.
He followed that up by scoring 19 points and grabbing seven boards against Florida International on Friday in Washington D.C. Taylor shot 5-of-8 from three-point range against the Panthers.
On Saturday versus Cleveland State, Taylor chipped in 11 points, one rebound and one steal.
He was named to the Battle for the Capital All-Tournament Team following Saturday's game.
UT Martin guard Parker Stewart shared this week's honor with Taylor.
Taylor currently ranks second on the team in scoring at 12.6 points-per-game.
He ranks fourth in the OVC in three-pointers/game (2.6) and 10th in steals/game (1.6).
The Colonels are set to return to action on Dec. 3 when they travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina to face USC-Upstate.
