On-line registration for the Richmond Little League's 2020 spring season is currently under way.
The organization will once again offer play in seven divisions -- Wee (4-5 years old), Tee (5-6), Rookie Coach Pitch (6-7), Coach Pitch (7-9), Minor (8-10), Major (10-12) and Senior (13-16). League age is determined by birthdate as of Aug. 31, 2020.
On-line registration can be done at the league's web site -- richmondlittleleague.info -- through Jan. 25, 2020.
Players signing up for the Rookie Coach Pitch, Coach Pitch, Minor or Major division by Jan. 10 will get the opportunity to attend a free clinic by EKU players on Jan. 19.
A registration session will also be held at the Galaxy Bowling Center on Sunday, Jan. 19 from 2 to 3 p.m. Wee and Tee players signing up at this event can register to win a $25 Dicks gift card.
First-time players are required to provide a birth certificate or other proof of birth day. Wee and Tee players can request a relative or friend to be on the same team.
The registration fee for Wee and Tee players is $90 or $50 with the purchase of six spirit cards at $10 each.
The registration fee for Rookie Coach Pitch, Coach Pitch, Minor, Major and Senior leagues is $115 or $75 with the purchase of six spirit cards. If there are three children from the same household, the fee for the third child is $50 (Wee and Tee) or $75 (Rookie Coach Pitch, Coach Pitch, Minor, Major and Senior) with no fundraising.
After on-line registration closes on Jan. 25, players can be placed on the waiting list by sending an e-mail that includes player's name, date or birth and league to firstname.lastname@example.org
No fundraising will be available for those on the waiting list. Late registration fee for Wee and Tee is $100 and $125 for all other leagues.
Senior League registration will be held on Feb. 23 at Galaxy Bowling Center from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Players can sign-up to win a $25 Dick's gift card.
All spirit cards are pre-sold. Money and forms must be turned in by Feb. 23.
Spirit card forms that include business sponsors are available at richmondlittleleague.info and will also be attached to the online registration confirmation. Money collected for the fundraiser and card pickup will be on Feb. 23 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Bring the completed form and $60 to the Galaxy Bowling Center bingo room between 1 and 2:30 p.m. to get the spirit cards. More than six cards can be sold.
All teams will have their first game during the week of April 13-18. At the opening game, all players will receive a baseball imprinted with the Richmond Little League's 60 year logo.
The tentative date for the start of the Senior League is May 16.
All coaches and adults who want to help at practice or games must complete a mandatory background check, which is part of the online registration and can also be provided by a league commissioner.
