First-year head Matt Cosinuke released the Eastern Kentucky University soccer team’s 2019 schedule on Wednesday
The non-conference portion of the schedule is highlighted by a visit from in-state rival Kentucky on Thursday, Sept. 12.
It will mark the first time EKU has hosted Kentucky in a soccer match. The Colonels defeated the Wildcats for the first time ever, 1-0, last September in Lexington.
Other non-conference home games include Chattanooga (Aug. 25), Milwaukee (Sept. 1) and Northern Kentucky (Sept. 8).
EKU is set to play host to two exhibition games in mid-August. The Colonels welcome Dayton to Richmond on Thursday, Aug.15 and Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, Aug. 18.
Parents Weekend will be held on the weekend of the Miami (Ohio) exhibition.
EKU opens the regular season against Ohio University on Aug. 22 in Athens, Ohio. The Colonels then return home to Richmond to take on Chattanooga in their home opener three days later.
EKU is 2-1-2 all-time against the Mocs.
The first month of the season ends with a trip to Michigan to face Oakland University (Aug. 29).
September begins with a home game against the Milwaukee Panthers on Sunday the 1st.
EKU travels to Indianapolis to take on IUPUI in a night game on Thursday, Sept. 5. The Colonels return home to host NKU on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept, 8.
EKU is 1-1 all-time against the Norse.
Following the home match against Kentucky, EKU closes out the non-conference slate at Akron on Sunday, September 15. It will be the Colonels’ first matchup with the Zips since 2008.
Ohio Valley Conference action begins at Jacksonville State on Friday, Sept. 20
The Colonels play all five of their home conference games consecutively in the month of October: Austin Peay (Friday, Oct. 4), defending OVC Tournament champion Murray State (Sunday, Oct. 6), Southeast Missouri (Friday, Oct. 11), defending OVC regular-season champion UT Martin (Sunday, Oct. 13) and Belmont (Friday, Oct.18).
Alumni Weekend will be held around the Austin Peay-Murray State Weekend (October 5-6).
EKU closes out the regular season with road games at rival Morehead State (Sunday, Oct. 20) and SIUE (Thursday, Oct.24).
The OVC Tournament begins on Friday, November 1.
EKU went 8-8-4 (4-3-3) last season and advanced to the semifinals of the OVC Tournament for the third consecutive year.
Cosinuke was hired to lead the program in January.
