Three Madison Central baseball players took part in a pair of All-Star showcases earlier this week in Lexington.

Joseph Holbrook and Josh Wright represented the East All-Stars in the Kentucky Sophomore All-Star Games, while Ben Morin was selected to the East squad for the Kentucky Junior All-Star Games.

The games were held at Bryan Station on Wednesday.

Holbrook started the first of the two Sophomore All-Star Games. He did not allow a run and his fastball topped out at 85 miles an hour.

Wright also had an RBI as the East picked up a 4-3 win.

The West team won game two, 2-1.

The Sophomore East All-Star Team was coached by Madison Central’s Steve Roof, who was also selected as the 11th Region Coach of the Year after leading the Indians to 29 wins.

In the junior games, the East and West All-Stars split, with the East winning the first game and the West taking the second game.

The All-Star games drew a large contingent of Division I coaches, including coaches from Middle Tennessee, Austin Peay, Tennessee Tech, Western Kentucky, Kentucky, EKU and several others.

Hamrick wins again

Mason Hamrick continues to burn up the summer youth golf circuit.

The Richmond youngster picked up another victory Friday in the Boys Open division of the Kentucky PGA Junior at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.

Hamrick shot a seven over par 43 to pick up a one-stroke victory over Connor Calhoun of Grayson.

Richmond’s Mattie Jo Neeley also picked up a win in the event. Neeley captured the Girls 12 and under division shooting a +11 47 to beat out second-place finisher Kate Hanni of Ashland by four strokes.

Madison Elite Soccer Camp

Madison Central boys soccer coach Evan Sutherland will conduct the Madison Elite Soccer Camp June 30 through July 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bellevue Center.

The camp, open to boys and girls ages 8-18, is for competitive players and will have a high focus on technical and tactical training in a competitive environment focused on the modern trends of the U.S. Men’s National Team Training Curriculum.

Hahn to play in All-Star Game

Ethan Hahn of B. Michael Caudill Middle School will represent Kentucky against Tennessee today at the Future All-Star Football Game at Kentucky Wesleyan College.

Hahn participates in football, basketball, baseball and track at Caudill and plays in the Senior League of the Richmond Little League.

Hahn will be the starting tailback for Kentucky in the game.

Making history at the YMCA

On Friday, 25 local kids participated in the World’s Largest Swim Lesson by getting into the pool at the Telford YMCA in Richmond. Thousands of kids from all across the country took part in the nationwide event. The kids were instructed on water safety and were also given swimming lessons from experienced YMCA staff members.
