Estill County scored seven times in the first two innings, then held on for a 9-5 win over the 9 and 10-year-old Richmond National All-Stars Saturday at the Estill County Tournament.

Richmond (2-1) rallied to beat Frankfort 8-7 in extra innings earlier in the day, but couldn’t overcome an another early deficit against Estill County. With the loss, the All-Stars fall into the elimination bracket. The team is scheduled to play again at 10 a.m. today in Irvine.

Frankfort ran out to a 6-0 lead in the fourth, but Richmond rallied to tied the game in the bottom on the inning. Frankfort took a one-run lead in the sixth inning, but Richmond scored twice to win the game in the its final at-bat.

The winning run scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Taran Witt (two RBIs), David Benton, Stephen Sears (run) and Ben Durham (run) each had one hit. Austin Coyle had two hits and scored two runs and Mason Crump had two hits, two RBIs and a run. Levi Agee also scored a run for Richmond.

Witt started and went three innings and Aaron Edmonson pitched the final three innings.

In the second game, Richmond scored four times in the fifth inning to slash into a seven-run deficit, but Estill County added two more runs in the fifth inning to wrap up the win.

Witt had two hits and scored twice, Benton and Crump each had a hit and scored a run, Coyle had a hit and drove in two runs and Agee scored a run. Sears also had a hit for Richmond.
