Madison Middle sweeps pair of district rivals

The Madison Middle School boys soccer team completed a two-game sweep of district opponents last week, beating Estill County, 12-0, and Foley, 5-0.

The defense, anchored by Taylor Deaton, Cris Scrivner, Dawson Marcum, Geremy Sowers and Caleb Cornelius, limited the Panthers’ opponents to only nine shots in the two games and Zack Brock and A.J. Dunaway combined in goal to post consecutive shutouts.

The Panthers’ goal keepers have now posted shutouts in five of their 10 games this season.

The offense was led by Dunaway with a hat trick in each game, but the high-powered offense displayed many weapons, with seven other players finding the back of the net.
