The Richmond All-Stars continued their solid play Monday at the District 3 Tournament at Anderson-Dean Park in Harrodsburg.

All three local teams that were in action picked up victories.

Through the first three days of the tournament, Richmond teams have a combined record of 8-2.

On Monday, the Richmond National 9 and 10-year-old All-Stars rolled to a 15-0 four-inning win over Harrison County. The 11-12 year-old Richmond American All-Stars topped Anderson County, 4-1, while the Richmond American 11 year-old All-Stars defeated Eastern National, 10-9.

9-10 year-olds

After being rained out on Sunday, the Richmond National All-Stars opened tournament play with a big victory.

Grant Hotchkiss scored four times and Zach Purvis hit a grand slam in a 15-0 four-inning win over Harrison County Monday in Harrodsburg.

Ethan Neal started and went 2 1/3 innings and picked up the win. Dawson Miller and Purvis both pitched 2/3rds of an inning and Hotchkiss pitched 1/3rd of an inning.

Richmond National (1-0) scored once in the first inning, then added six runs in the second and eight runs in the fourth inning.

Colton Perkins had two hits and scored twice, Luke Foley had two hits, two RBIs and scored twice, Hotchkiss had two hits, Neal was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Miller had a hit, an RBI and scored a run.

11-12 year-olds

James Goble picked up a complete-game victory and Derek Daniel provided the big blast for the Richmond American All-Stars.

Goble gave up just six hits and struck out nine in a 4-1 win over Anderson County Monday in Harrodsburg. Daniel ripped a three-run home run in the third inning that gave Goble all the run support he would need.

With the win, Richmond American (2-0) locks up the No. 1 seed in its bracket.

Richmond American had just five hits, including two by Denton Witt and one each from Kyle Brubaker and Evan Courtwright. Logan Bertrand scored the All-Stars only other run when he stole home in the sixth.

Brubaker and Dillon Wheatley scored on Daniels’ homer.


The Richmond American All-Stars bounced back from a loss in the tournament opener to top Eastern National, 10-9, Monday in Harrodsburg.

Eastern National scored six times in the top of the sixth to take a 9-8 lead, but Richmond American scored twice in the bottom of the inning to seal the win.

Lucas Myers started and went two innings. He also scored two runs.

Lincoln Lunsford pitched two innings and Luke Keck pitched an inning before Hayden Waterbeck and Hagan Brinegar came on to pitch in the sixth.

Tyler Santiago had a double, scored twice and also had an unassisted double play in the fourth inning. Waterbeck had a single, double and scored a run, Kenton Humphrey had a hit and scored twice and Lunsford had a double and scored a run.
