The Richmond Little League Junior All-Stars wrapped up a spot in the state tournament with a 15-4 win Monday over Anderson County at the District 3 Tournament at Lake Reba.
The Richmond Little League Senior All-Stars, however, saw their season come to an end with a 7-2 loss Monday to Anderson County at the District 3 Tournament at Lake Reba.
Two days after opening a three-game series with Anderson County, the Richmond All-Stars finally secured a spot in the state tournament.
Richmond defeated Anderson County 13-0 Saturday morning and had a commanding lead in another game later in the day before rain postponed play.
Richmond had a 12-2 lead when play resumed on Monday and went on to post a 15-4 win.
Daniel Wilkerson pitched the first three innings on Saturday and also had a single, double and scored twice.
Easten Shouse had two singles and a double, Alec Rogers had a single, double, a walk and scored twice, Brandon Huntzinger had a hit, drew a walk and scored once, Tanner Thornsberry had two singles and scored a run, Justin Ferris had two walks and scored a run, Drake Coomer had a single, double and scored a run, Sean Felicicchia had two singles and scored a run and Gary Wooten had a single.
The Richmond All-Stars will begin play in the state tournament this weekend in Oldham County.
After falling to Anderson County on Saturday, 12-11, the Richmond All-Stars needed a win Monday at Lake Reba to stay alive at the District 3 Tournament.
Despite a solid effort on the mound from Crea Knight, Richmond came up short, falling to Anderson County, 7-2.
Richmond had a 2-1 lead heading into the sixth inning before Anderson County scored five times, then added another run in the seventh.
Knight didn’t allow a hit until the sixth and also had a single, double and scored a run. Drew Harmon had a single, walk and scored a run, Tenny Akihary had two singled and a walk, Austin Beetlestone had a double, Kendan Angel had a walk, while Ashton Scott, Luke Todd and Dalton Ward all had a hit.
Scott and Daylan Culton also pitched for Richmond.
