The Madison Central boys soccer team (8-8-1) fell 2-1 at Henry Clay Tuesday in a game decided by a controversial call.
The Blue Devils (10-4-3) led 1-0 at the half on Senior Night.
Caleb Crutcher tied the game for the Indians five minutes into the second half after a free kick by Logan Baker.
Deep into the second half, Central goalie Ben Durham — who had 16 saves in the game — was called for picking up the ball out of the box.
Henry Clay scored the go-ahead goal on the resulting free kick.
Central had several opportunities to score from Baker’s free kicks, but the taller Blue Devils thwarted each attempt.
Defensively, Chad Barnes had five blocks and a steal, Tate Renzinbrink had six blocks, Addison McCoy had three blocks and two steals, Grant Willoughby had three blocks and a steal, and Logan Baker had two steals and a block.
Cameron Wilson and Luc Powell had two steals each while Peyton Netherton had two blocks.
The Central junior varsity won 1-0 on a goal by Bryce Fielder.
The Indians play their final regular-season game at Lafayette on Thursday night.
