Eastern Kentucky University’s senior outfielder Diane Gallagher was selected as the Preseason Ohio Valley Conference Field Player of the Year by CollegeSportsMadness.com.

In addition, Gallagher was also selected first team Preseason All-OVC by CollegeSportsMadness.com.

Last season, Gallagher batted .366 with 32 runs scored, 29 stolen bases and 17 RBIs.

She had the second most stolen bases in the OVC and was tied for second with four triples.

The Atwater, Calif., native ranked fifth with 60 hits and had the sixth highest

batting average in the OVC.  Gallagher has earned a spot on the all-conference team each of her first three seasons in maroon and white.

EKU’s 2012 season begins on Feb. 17 against Nicholls State at the Troy UniversityTournament in Troy, Ala.
