Last Friday night, the Madison Country Club played host to its annual fun-tastic Christmas Party.
More than 100 young and old swingers took turns on the dance floor, kicking their heels up to the music of the superb Klassic Tymes Band.
The celebrants had a mouth-watering array of dishes and appetizers to satisfy their appetites, provided by the lady volunteers of the club. The feast was complimented by beef tenderloin and rolls catered by Katy Stephenson.
It was a wonderful start to the holidays with old and young friends getting together and a lot of hugs exchanged.
Chairwomen Grace Robertson, Bridgett Settles, Lynn Lainhart and Paula Wilder did a fantastic job of decorating and arranging another great party at the old fun club.
Thanks for a wonderful evening.
You da ladies!
New sewer lines will impact local courses
The new sewer treatment plant, which is located off Red House Road about four miles out, will start operating some time in 2010.
Last Friday, Richmond Utilities manager Scott Althauser and Robert Williams of HDR Engineering, met with the trust board, Doug and Jerome Tudor and club manager Ron Francis. They explained the upcoming hook up to the new sewer system and also conversion of the sprinkler system at the MCC from the affluent water systems to the city water supply.
Work is to start on the sewer line crossing the MCC fairways in January and continue for four weeks. The existing creek which flows across the property now is purified affluent water and rain water. It will now be dry except when we have a good rain.
Wow!
That will save me money on golf balls. I have lost 200 or more in that blooming creek over 70 years.
Ouch!
Many thanks to Scott Althauser of Richmond Utilities for bringing in Rob Williams of HDR and three other gentleman to explain everything. You did a fine presentation.
Mahalo!
Footnote: The new sewer line is also crossing Arlington Golf Course and I would imagine in the same time frame as the MCC. It looks like it will cross the property on the north side of the lake and cross No. 4 fairway to Tates Creek road.
Rambling
I have always tried to read inspiring and positive-thinking articles as I believe they help make you happy and successful.
Here is a gem written by Nancy Sims.
“Winners”….Take Chances
Like everyone else, they fear failing, but they refuse to let fear control them.
Winners don’t give up!
When life get rough, they hang in until the going gets better.
Winners are flexible.
They realize there is more than one way and are willing to try others.
Winners know they are not perfect.
They respect their weaknesses while making the most of their strengths.
Winners fall, but they don’t stay down.
They stubbornly refuse to let a fall keep them from climbing.
Winners don’t blame fate for their failures nor luck for their successes.
Winners accept responsibility for their lives.
Winners are positive thinkers, who see good in all things.
From the ordinary, they make extraordinary.
Winners believe in the path they have chosen even when it’s hard, even when others can’t see where they are going.
Winners are patient!
They know a goal is only as worthy as the effort that’s required to achieve it.
