The Madison Express, a local coach pitch baseball team, rolled to a championship last weekend at the Bluegrass State Games.
The Express did not lose a game and defeated Bluegrass Baseball, 7-0, in the championship game.
The Express also defeated the CKY Sliders, 7-4, the East Ky Miners, 13-0, the Lexington Bombers, 14-1 and the Paintsville Yankees, 7-6. They also defeated Bluegrass Baseball, 4-3, prior to the meeting them again the finals.
The Express is the first team from Madison County to win gold in this division of the tournament.
The Madison Express includes: Lawson Hon, Hayden Robbins, Tyler Brook, Cannon Peercy, Aiden Carter, Brandon Anderson, Carter Ruffner, Austin Bowen, Brenton Fox, Corey Causey, Jaeden Coons and Tanner Mcintosh.
Madison Central soccer team picks up wins at BGSG
The Madison Central varsity and junior varsity boys soccer teams participated in the Bluegrass State Games this past weekend.
In varsity action, the Indians tied Lafayette 0-0 in a hard-fought, physical game. In the second game, Central defeated Marion County, 1-0, when junior Addison McCoy scored courtesy of senior Zach Brock.
In the team’s third game, Central beat Paducah Tilghman 1-0 when senior Zach Brock scored on a pass from junior Logan Baker.
In junior varsity action, Western Hills defeated Central, 2-0. The Indians bounced back with a 3-0 victory over Newport Catholic Blue. Central’s goals were scored by freshman Dylan Dotson, freshman Cameron Wilson and eighth-grader Luc Powell.
In the team’s third game, Central lost to Henry Clay, 3-2. Freshmen Dylan Dotson and Cameron Wilson scored for the Indians in this back-and-forth battle with the Blue Devils.
Next up for the Central varsity is an exhibition game with Boyle County Saturday at Madison Southern’s Soccerama. The game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
