Model Laboratory's Anthony Cole posted a new personal-best time in the 100-meter dash on Thursday at the Kentucky High School Athletic Association's Class A State Meet in Lexington.
The freshman posted a mark of 11.30 and finished fourth.
Malik Blunt (10.84) of Fort Knox took first place in the event, while Ryan Long (10.95) of Trimble County was second and Grayson Turner (11.30) of Somerset finished third.
Cole took second place in the 100-meter dash at the Class A, Region 5 Meet last month in Danville in a time of 11.31, finishing behind Turner.
Model Laboratory's Keaton Hall finished 16th in the shot put competition on Thursday at the University of Kentucky. The junior had a mark of 29-00.
Berea Community's Jaiden Cunningham placed 20th in the boys shot put event. The junior had a best throw of 39-04.50.
Bishop Brossart took the girls Class A state team title with a total of 87 points. Somerset (67) was second and Louisville Collegiate (54) was third.
Holy Cross (Louisville) claimed the boys Class A state team title with a total of 55 points. Bishop Brossart (53) was second and Fort Knox (44) was third.
Morgan County senior Krista Perry broke the state record in the 100-meter hurdles on Thursday, posting a time of 14.52. That mark surpassed the time of 14.63 set by Model Laboratory's Melanie Welsing in 2018.
