Standout athletes from Madison County were recently honored by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Madison Central's Ciara O'Shea and Brady Masters were named the 2020 Area 6 High School Cross Country Runners of the Year.

Central's Marcus Hutchinson was an honorable mention boys high school all-area selection.

Jamie Gugel of Madison Middle and Makayla Bickett of B. Michael Caudill were both named to the middle school girls all-area team.

Area 6 including Fayette County, Madison County Bourbon County, Jessamine County, Scott County, Woodford County, Harrison County, Mercer County and other counties in central Kentucky.

O'Shea claimed a third-straight Kentucky High School Athletic Association Class 3A state title in October at the Bourbon County Park.

The sophomore posted a time of 18:15.37 and beat out the nearest competitor by more than 40 seconds.

Masters finished as the Class 3A state runner-up for the second-straight season.

The junior posted a time of 15:42.23 in the first heat of the KHSAA championship on Oct. 31, but was beaten out by less than half of a second by Jackson Watts of Madisonville, who was in the second heat of the race.

Hutchinson, a senior, had a time of 17:15.29 at the state meet and finished 27th.

As a junior, Hutchinson finished 97th at the KHSAA year-end championships.
