The Berea Community volleyball team got a senior leader back in the lineup and rolled to a big win on the road.

Malyah Penn had seven aces, four digs and three kills as the Lady Pirates (5-5) beat Pineville, 3-0.

Berea won by scores of 25-7, 25-18 and 25-18.

Penn had missed the first month of the season because of health reasons.

"She was a little rusty coming out of gate," Berea coach Jarred Penn said of Malyah Penn. "But, she heated up as the game went on. It was nice to have her back."

Faith Dennis had nine assists and four aces. Sophia Dobbins had four aces, four kills, two digs and one ace.

Kayley Harrison had two aces.

Chesney Lovins had three kills and two aces. Morgan Short had one ace.

Berea is set to return to action Saturday in the 11th Region All "A" Classic at Lexington Christian Academy.

The Lady Pirates will take on Model at 10 a.m.

Lady Patriots fall to LCA

The Model Laboratory girls soccer team suffered a 5-0 loss to Lexington Christian Academy on Thursday in the semifinals of the 11th Region All "A" Classic in Berea.

The Lady Eagles advance to the championship game to take on Sayre at noon on Saturday.

The Lady Spartans beat Frankfort, 5-0, in the other semifinal on Thursday.

The tournament is being played at Berea Community.

The Lady Patriots (6-5) are set to return to action Monday at home against Bryan Station.
