The Madison Central volleyball team took on a pair of quality opponents during a tri-match on Saturday in Richmond.

The Lady Indians (7-10-1) topped Southwestern (9-6-1), 2-0, then suffered a 3-2 loss to West Carter (15-3).

In the other match of the day, Southwestern beat West Carter, 2-0 (25-19, 25-16).

Central beat Southwestern by scores of 25-17 and 25-19.

Macalia Morin had three kills and 12 digs for the Lady Indians. Sophie Hilles and Addison Martin had two kills and two digs each. Mary Carol Adams had seven digs. Avery Rigney had three block assists, two digs, an ace and a kill. Haven Combs had five digs and Journey Miserendino had five digs, four assists and one kill.

Central jumped out to a two-set lead over West Carter. However, the Lady Comets rallied for a 18-25, 13-25, 25-19, 25-23, 15-11 win.

The Lady Indians had 35 kills and 10 aces.

Rigney had a team-best nine kills and five digs. Combs had eight kills, three digs, three aces, two assists and a block. Morin had seven kills, 23 digs and three assists.

Ananiah Huguely had four kills, a block and a dig. Sicilia Friend had 19 digs, three kills, two aces and one assist. Martin had two kills, one block, one assist, one dig and one ace.

Adams had 15 digs, two assists and two aces. Ella Cornett had nine assists, three digs, one kill, one assist. Hilles had two assists and Miserendino had 16 assists, 12 digs, one kill and one ace.

Central is set to return to action Tuesday at Great Crossing.
