The Lady Patriots jumped out to a quick advantage over Madison Central on Monday in the first-ever meeting of the school's volleyball programs.

That lead didn't last long.

The Lady Indians (4-13) scored six-straight points — and never looked back.

Central rolled to a 3-0 win over Model Laboratory (0-8) at home. The Lady Indians won by scores of 25-9, 25-2 and 25-12.

Central won 11 of the final 12 points of the first set, then quickly took a 12-1 lead in the second set.

The Lady Indians then won 13-straight points to take a 2-0 lead.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Central.

Haven Combs had eight kills, eight assists, two assists and one block for the Lady Indians.

Sicilia Friend had 10 digs and two aces. Macalia Morin had four digs, four aces and three kills.

Ella Cornett finished with four digs and four assists. Reagan Wiseman had eight assists, five digs and three aces.

Vespera Meadows had four assists and three digs, while Tamara Collins had three kills.

Central is set to return to action today at home against LCA.

Berea falls in five sets

Back on the court for the first time in six days, the Berea Community volleyball team wasn't able to grind out a win on the road.

The Lady Pirates (13-11) fell in five sets to Estill County. The Lady Engineers won by scores of 25-13, 23,25, 2515, 22-25 and 15-5.

Malyah Penn had five aces, five kills, four digs and three assists for Berea.

Taelor Alexander had six digs and two assists. Faith Dennis finished with 11 assists, four digs and one kill.

Sophia Dobbins had four digs, four kills, three assists and one ace. Chesney Lovins had five kills, two digs and one ace. Morgan Short had three blocks and two kills.

Kaley Harrison had two kills and one ace.

Berea is set to return to action Wednesday at district rival Madison Central.
