The Madison Central volleyball team opened the season with a 3-1 loss on Monday at home to Powell County.

The Lady Indians fell by scores of 17-25, 26-24, 25-22 and 25-21.

Central had 42 kills, led by Haven Combs (14) and Tamara Collins (eight). The Lady Indians had 12 aces -- Vespera Meadows (four), Reagan Wiseman (four) and Combs (two) -- and just five service errors.

Meadows had 39 assists and seven digs.

Combs also had two blocks and six digs.

Macaila Morin had seven digs. Addison Martin had five kills, three blocks and an ace.

Sophie Hiles had seven kills and three blocks.

Madison Central is set to return to action today against 11th Region rival Lexington Catholic.

Berea falls to Danville

The Berea Community volleyball team opened the season with a 3-1 loss at home to Danville on Monday.

The Lady Pirates fell by scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-12 and 25-14.

Berea is set to return to action today at Burgin.
