The Lady Patriots picked up a pair of victories last weekend at the Bart Rison Derby Classic in Mt. Sterling.
They hoped to carry the momentum from those strong performances into a match-up with Lincoln County on Monday in Richmond.
That didn't happen.
Lincoln County scored four times in the first inning and rolled to a 13-1 five-inning win over Model.
The Lady Patriots (10-14) had just one hit.
Model defeated Montgomery County, 8-5, on Friday night. On Saturday the Lady Patriots beat Pendleton County, 7-0, but suffered losses to Grant County, 4-3, and East Carter, 8-3.
Lincoln County took control early on Monday. The visitors sent eight batters to the plate in the first inning.
Model got its only run in the second. Summer Ray doubled, moved to third on a fly ball by McKenna Tuttle, then scored on a wild pitch.
Camilie Dyer was the only other Lady Patriot to reach base. She walked in the second and was hit by a pitch in the fourth.
Lincoln County added six runs in the third and three more scores in the fifth.
Anniston Bray started in the circle for Model. She went six innings, allowing 11 hits, 13 runs (seven earned) with eight walks and one strikeout.
Model is set to return to action today at Jackson County.
Central holds off Station
Madison Central (12-10) built a big lead, then had to hold off a late rally to claim a win Monday on the road over an 11th Region rival.
The Lady Indians scored twice in the first and fourth innings and picked up a 5-3 victory over Bryan Station.
Central got a strong performance from Abbey Mayes in the circle and at the plate. The junior was 2-for-3 with an RBI and also earned the complete-game win. She allowed nine hits, three runs and one walk with 10 strikeouts.
Madison Barnard had a double, a triple and also scored a run. Hannah Ison was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice.
Skylar Jacob was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Maggie Rose was 1-for-3 and scored once. Macaila Morin was 1-for-3 and Parker Presnell walked and had an RBI.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Central.
