The Lady Indians (16-3) put together a late comeback, but couldn't come up with a win on the road over a tough opponent.
Madison Central collected eight hits — including a pair of home runs — in an 8-5 loss to Boyle County on Wednesday in Danville. The Lady Indians scored twice in the top of the seventh and had a runner on.
Cassidy Hack was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and scored twice. Olivia Metcalfe had a solo home run and Macaila Morin was 2-for-4 and scored once.
Central scored a run in the top of the first, but the Lady Rebels (15-8) pushed across three runs in the bottom of the first and added two more runs in the second.
The Lady Indians have lost two of their past three games.
Jasmine Kaylor was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Haley Sebastian was 1-for-4 with a triple and scored a run. Shelby Hensley was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Kaylor started in the circle and went three innings. She allowed seven hits, six runs (five earned) with three walks and a strikeout.
Cassidy Gentry worked three innings, allowing four hits, two runs (one earned) with two strikeouts.
Central is set to return to action today at Madison Southern.
Berea falls in extra innings
The Lady Pirates (1-5) weren't able to hold on to a big lead Wednesday on the road.
Taylor Johnson was 3-for-4 with two doubles, five RBIs, a walk and scored a run in a 12-11 loss to Danville. The Lady Admirals (3-12) scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to claim the walk-off victory.
The teams combined for 14 hits and seven errors.
Berea Community scored four times in the third and had a 10-2 advantage after pushing across six runs in the fourth. Danville scored three times in the fourth and four times in the fifth.
Mackenzie Howell was 1-for-4 with a walk, RBI and scored a run. Sadie Hall was 1-for-5 and scored once. Paige Johnson had a walk, an RBI and scored twice.
Kadence Bertotto was 1-for-4 and scored once. Emily Biggs scored a run. Tess Mclin walked and scored twice. Teagan Skidmore was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Bertotto went the distance in the circle, allowing eight hits, 12 runs (eight earned) with 12 walks and three strikeouts.
The Lady Pirates have lost four-straight games.
Berea is set to return to action today at home against Model.
Frankfort beats Model
The Lady Patriots (7-9) had just four hits as they suffered a 10-0 five-inning loss to Frankfort on Wednesday in Richmond.
The loss snapped Model Laboratory's four-game winning streak.
Anniston Bray was 2-for-3. Alana Newbill was 1-for-3 and Mallory Trivette was 1-for-2.
Frankfort (7-15) scored twice in the first and three innings, then added five runs in the fifth.
Piper Moore started in the circle and went five innings. She allowed six hits, five runs (four earned) with four walks and four strikeouts.
Model is set to return to action today at Berea Community.
