The Lady Indians (7-2-2) earned a hard-fought win over a familiar foe on Senior Night.

Natalie Knecht and Kally Lloyd each had a goal as Madison Central topped Sayre (9-7) on Monday in Richmond.

The game was a rematch of a first-round match-up in last year’s 11th Region Tournament. The Lady Indians defeated Sayre, 2-1, in Richmond.

Central took a 1-0 lead into half on Monday after a goal by Knecht. Becca Gordon made that advantage hold up in net as she posted her third shutout of the season.

The Lady Indians will put their three-match unbeaten streak on the line Wednesday at Danville.

Patriots roll at home

The Model Laboratory boys soccer team rolled to a 5-0 win on Monday at home over North Laurel (8-5-2).

Keshav Bhandari, Dylan Smith, Tanner Martin and Shalin Kutty-Poffenberger each had a goal and an assists, while Hugo Marti also scored a goal.

Maddox Marks made five saves in net to earn his seventh shutout of the season.

Model (12-3) is set to return to action today at 44th District rival Berea Community.

Indians win fourth-straight

The Madison Central boys soccer team pushed its winning streak to four matches with a very solid performance on Saturday evening in Richmond.

Sam Hughes had three goals and two assists as the Indians (6-7) picked up a 7-0 win over Ashland Blazer (10-3). Tyler Smith also had a pair of goals, while Ryder Browning and Adam Cole also scored.

Central raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first half.

Bishop Burke, Tristen Dandaneau and Parker Wilson had assists.

Hughes had a team-best 17 goals on the season. Smith has eight goals.

The Indians are set to return to action today at Corbin.

Lady Patriots shut out

The Model Laboratory girls soccer team was handed a 4-0 setback by Bluegrass United on Monday in Versailles.

The loss was the third-straight for the Lady Patriots (5-5-2).

Model trailed 2-0 at halftime.

The Lady Patriots are set to return to action today at Estill County.

Lady Eagles fall

The Madison Southern girls soccer team was handed a 4-0 loss at home by 11th Region rival Lafayette (7-6-1) on Monday.

Claire Cress had 30 saves.

Southern is set to return to action Wednesday at Western Hills.
