The Model Laboratory boys soccer team picked up a solid win on the road Monday.

Thomas Chadwell and John Benson each had a goal and an assists as the Patriots (6-6) defeated Corbin, 4-2.

Model has won four its past five games.

The Redhounds (8-3-1) came into the game on a three-game winning streak, including a victory over Madison Central.

Christopher Tioukalov and Ethan Vice both had a goal. Jonathan Crosby and Keshav Bhandari each had two assists.

Zach Long earned the win in net.

Model is set to return to action Thursday at home against district rival Berea Community.

Lady Eagles win in shootout

The Madison Southern girls soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory over Boyle County on Monday night in Danville.

The game was scoreless through regulation.

The Lady Eagles (6-2-1) won in a shootout, 3-2.

Abby Sheffer, Kayleigh Moberly and Heidi Hylton all connected on their penalty kicks.

Senior keeper Sarah Mitchell made one save and the Boyle County had one shot hit the crossbar.

Southern defeated Madison Central last Monday in a shootout.

The match-up was the opening game of the Spine Central Showcase in Danville.

The Lady Eagles will face Anderson County today in the tournament and Mercer County on Saturday.

Berea snaps skid

The Berea Community boys soccer team snapped a six-game losing streak with a 5-0 win on Monday at home over Paris.

Edwin Ricco had two goals for the Pirates (2-7-1) , while John Wallhausser had a goal and two assists.

Will Fredrickson and Peyton Jones each had a goal and Julian Clavere made five saves and earned the shutout.

Berea is set to return to action Thursday at district rival Model.

Lady Pirates top OBI

The Berea Community girls soccer team snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 2-0 win on Monday over Oneida Baptist Institute.

Senior Madison Cummins scored on a penalty kick in the second half and Evi Stefan later added a goal for the Lady Pirates (3-8).

Emily Maynard had 10 saves while earning her third shutout of the season.

Berea is set to return to action Wednesday at home against North Laurel.
