The Patriots picked up a fairly easy 8-0 win over Berea Community in the opening round of the 11th Region All "A" Classic on Sept. 3 in Richmond.
The district rivals met again Thursday on the same field.
Model once again earned the victory, but it was a little more difficult this time around.
The Patriots (7-6) scored four first-half goals in the 5-0 win over Berea Community (2-8-1).
Jonathan Crosby had two goals and an assist, John Benson had two goals and Christopher Tiolkalov had a goal and an assist.
"They were playing with more fire," Model coach Steve Savage said of Berea. "(Coach Mitchell Plowman) has got them playing better. They've got more size than they have in the past."
Model got a goal from Benson just 6:50 into the game on assists from Thomas Chadwell and Ethan Vice.
The game remained just 1-0 for almost 20 minutes.
Crosby scored with 16:11 left before the half on a pass from Tioukalov. Benson re-directed a shot into the goal from in front with 12:44 left and Crosby ripped a shot into the top left corner of the net with 4:13 left off a pass from Christopher Bentley.
Berea controlled a lot of possession in the second half, but Model got one more score.
Tioukalov scored with 20:47 left in the game.
Berea junior midfielder John Paul Wideman had several good scoring chances in the second half.
Zach Long and Ashton Steelmon split time in net for Model.
Julian Clavere made a series of good saves for Berea.
The victory over Model gave Savage 296 for his career.
The long-time coach announced earlier this year (his 27th) would be his last at the school.
The Patriots have five regular-season games left on the schedule.
"I think it would be really nice for the school," Savage said of possibility getting his 300th win. "We got our 300th win for the program last year and it would nice to have a coach with 300 wins associated with the school."
Model is set to return to action Saturday at home against Boone County.
Berea is set to return to Saturday at Estill County.
