The Madison Southern boys soccer team had to settle for a 1-1 tie with North Laurel on Thursday during Senior Night in Berea.
After a scoreless first half, the Eagles (5-4-3) got on the board quickly in the second half against the Jaguars (4-8-2).
Jace Duerson found the back of the net off an assist from senior Francisco Aguilar to put the Eagles ahead 1-0.
However, North Laurel retaliated minutes later when they snuck one past Southern's keeper off a corner kick with twenty minutes to go.
Despite having several chances, the Eagles couldn't get the ball in the net again and the game ended in a draw.
The tie extended Southern's unbeaten streak to seven games. The Eagles haven't lost since Aug. 24
Southern will face East Carter at home on Saturday.
Central ties Woodford County
The Madison Central boys soccer team was shutout for the first time this season on the road Thursday against No. 7 Woodford County (9-1-2).
However, a strong defensive effort helped the Indians (6-5-4) extend their unbeaten streak to four games.
Central and Woodford battled to a scoreless tie in Versailles.
The Indians have lost just once in their past seven games.
Central is set to return to action Tuesday at home against Boyle County.
Lady Patriots fall at North Laurel
The Model Laboratory girls soccer team got a pair of second-half goals, but couldn't come up with a win Thursday on the road.
North Laurel picked up a 3-2 victory over the Lady Patriots (8-8) in London.
Anniston Bray scored on an assist from Becky Otieno, while Payton Sparks converted a penalty kick.
All of the North Laurel's goals also came in the second half. The Lady Jaguars (10-1) had two penalty kick goals and also scored off a header.
Model will try to snap a two-game losing streak Monday at East Jessamine.
