The Madison Southern girls soccer team got a few quality scoring chances, but couldn't come up with a goal on Wednesday at home against Montgomery County.
Freshman goalkeeper Claire Cress posted her third shutout of the season as the Lady Eagles (4-2-1) battled to earn a 0-0 tie.
Southern is set to return to action Oct. 6 at South Laurel.
Lady Patriots fall
The Model Laboratory girls soccer team had its four-game winning streak come to an end with a 2-1 loss Wednesday at Bourbon County.
The Lady Patriots (4-4) got a first-half goal by Julia Luxon on an assist from Maiya Bhandari.
The game was tied 1-1 at the half.
Senior McKenna Tuttle made 12 saves in net.
Model is set to return to action Oct. 5 at home against East Jessamine.
Lady Indians topped by West Jessamine, 4-0
The Madison Central girls soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss Wednesday at home to West Jessamine.
Freshman Becca Gordon made several saves in net for Central.
The Lady Indians (3-5-1) are set to return to action Saturday at home against Lexington Christian Academy.
Central still unbeaten
The Indians found themselves in an unfamiliar position on Tuesday.
They trailed early in a match-up with Shelby County (0-7-1) in Richmond.
Madison Central quickly bounced back, though.
The undefeated Indians took the lead before the half, then pulled away for a 7-1 win over the Rockets. Gavin O'Shea had three goals and two assists, while Sam Hughes had two goals and three assists.
Central is 9-0 on the season and has out-scored its opponents 34-8.
Christopher LaGrange and Jon Gordon had goals, while Cohen Kemper and Parker Wilson had assists.
Central is set to return to action Thursday at home against Lincoln County.
Model wins again
The Model Laboratory boys soccer team pushed its winning streak to four games on Tuesday in Richmond.
It wasn't easy, though.
Will Luxon scored with 6:55 left in regulation to lift the Patriots (6-3) to a 2-1 in over Trinity Christian.
About 10 minutes into the game, Chris Tioukalov gave Model a 1-0 lead. Keshav Bhandari had the assist on both Model goals and Maddox Marks earned the win in net.
The Patriots are set to return to action today against Somerset Christian.
Southern battles to tie
The Madison Southern boys soccer team battled back to earn a 1-1 tie with Montgomery County on Tuesday in Berea.
Chase Hechemy scored in the 73rd minute to pull the Eagles (6-2-1) even. Southern had chances to get the game winner in the closing minutes, but couldn't find the net again.
Austin Shepherd earned the win in net, making several big saves.
Southern is set to return to action Saturday against Model.
