Four players reached double-figures as the Model Laboratory boys basketball team picked up a 70-65 win in overtime over Nicholas County on Monday in Carlisle.

Ethan Bailey hit five three-pointers and finished with 19 points, six steals and three rebounds.

Bryson Perry had 14 points, four assists and three rebounds. Cruse Pingleton had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Nate Feese had 12 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

The Patriots (7-18) shot 48 percent from the field and hit 10-of-20 free throws.

Model out-scored the Bluejackets 13-8 in overtime.

Josh Barrick had seven points and three rebounds.

Camden Stamm had five points and three assists. The senior hit one three-pointer, giving him a school-record 46 on the season.

The Patriots are set to return to action today at home against Danville.

Garrard County tops Lady Indians

The Madison Central girls basketball team had its five-game winning streak snapped on Monday in Lancaster.

The Lady Indians (11-13) shot just 29 percent and were handed a 59-43 loss by Garrard County.

Taleya Todd had 18 points and four rebounds for Central, while Eve Carter had 10 points and three rebounds.

The Lady Indians had a seven-point lead (16-9) early and were up by 22-19 at halftime. The Lady Lions out-scored Central 16-9 in the third quarter and 24-12 in the fourth.

Jekauri McKeithen had nine points and 12 rebounds. Raelynn Miller had four points and Gretch Hammitt had two points.

Central was 0-of-4 from three-point range and 11-of-19 from the free throw line.

The Lady Indians had 16 turnovers.

Central is set to return to action Thursday at home against Rockcastle County.

Lady Pirates fall in Lexington

The Berea Community girls basketball team had a two-point lead after one quarter Monday in Lexington.

That advantage won’t hold up for long.

Henry Clay out-scored the Lady Pirates (13-12) 21-6 in the second quarter.

The Lady Blue Devils went on to pick up a 52-33 win in Lexington.

Madison Howell had seven points and five rebounds for Berea. Chesney Lovins had four points and four rebounds. Lauren Stepp had four points, three rebonds and two blocks. Sophie Brewer and Alexis Newman had four points each.

Maddy King had three points and two assists. Isis Rodgers had two points and three rebounds. Emily Maynard and Mackenze Howell had two points each. Natalea Clark had one point.

Berea shot 37 percent from the field, including 3-of-9 from three-point range, and hit 4-of-8 free throws.

The Lady Pirates had 19 turnovers, while Henry Clay had 25 points off turnovers and 26 points in the paint.

Berea is set to return to action Friday at Jackson County.
