The Lady Patriots (3-6) hit just 11-of-23 free throw attempts on Monday against Trinity Christian.
However, their senior leader certainly step up big at the right time.
McKenna Tuttle hit two free throws in the final seconds, helping Model Laboratory secure a hard-fought 57-54 win on Senior Night in Richmond.
Taylor LeCompte had 16 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks. Kenzie Ferguson had 12 points, eight rebounds and five steals, while Keaton Hall had 12 points, four steals and four assists.
It was Model's first win since Jan. 19.
"After all that we have been through this season and in the past, I’m just so happy we were able to show some grit and win this one on senior night for my girls," Model coach Candace Wells said. "Kenzie Johnson, McKenna and Mary (Alex Taylor). They helped change a program so it was important that we got the win for them."
The Lady Patriots raced out to a 15-2 lead after the first quarter, but were out-scored 22-8 in the second quarter and trailed by a point a halftime.
Model shot just 31 percent from the field, including 2-of-20 from three-point range, and had 18 turnovers.
Tuttle had nine points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists. E.K. Lawson had four points and McKenzie Johnson had two points.
Model is set to return to action Wednesday at Burgin.
Patriots win on road
The Patriots battled back from a rough start to pick up a solid win Monday on the road.
Nate Feese had 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists as Model (7-11) defeated Williamstown, 63-55.
Jackson Perry had 17 points and four rebounds. Bryson Perry had 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Model trailed 12-5 after the first quarter, but out-scored the Demons 17-12 in the second quarter and 22-10 in the third quarter.
The Patriots shot 60 percent from the field, including 4-of-7 from three-point range, and hit 9-of-18 free throws.
Ethan Bailey had seven points and six rebounds for Model. John Benson had three points and seven assists, while Thomas Luxon had two points and three rebounds.
Model has won five of its past six games.
The Patriots are set to return to action today at home against Trinity Christian.
