The Model Laboratory girls basketball team rolled to a 45-10 win over Rock Creek Academy (Ind.) on Friday in the opening round of the Downs Syndrome Louisville Classic at Whitefield Academy.
Summer Ray had 11 points and five rebounds while Kenzie Ferguson had nine points and five steals.
The win was the fourth-straight for Model (7-2).
The Lady Patriots had a 17-2 lead after the first quarter and were up 34-2 at halftime.
Taylor Lecompte had nine rebounds and six points. Avery Tuttle had eight points. Keaton Hall had five points. McKenna Tuttle had four points and Presley Lochmueller had two points.
Model was 2-of-7 from three-point range and hit 9-of-13 free throws.
The Lady Patriots are set to return to action today against Whitefield Academy at 1 p.m. in Louisville.
Bourbon County tops Indians in Lexington
The Madison Central couldn't overcome a tough shooting performance on Friday at the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic in Lexington.
The Indians (3-6) were 17-of-52 from the field (32.7 percent) and suffered a 53-46 loss to Bourbon County.
Kole Browne and Braeden Ray had 18 points each, but only three other Central players scored. Freshman Jaylen Davis had five points and six rebounds, Luke Coleman had three points and William Jacobs had two points.
Central out-rebounded the Colonels, 38-26.
Ray had six rebounds and Browne had five rebounds.
The Indians had a 9-8 lead after the first quarter, but trailed 22-19 at halftime. Bourbon County out-scored Central 16-7 in the third quarter.
The game featured eight lead changes and four ties. The Colonels led by as much as 17 points in the second half.
Central had 23 turnovers and was 5-of-19 from three-point range and 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
Central is set to return to action today against Martin County at 2:30 p.m. at Lexington Catholic.
Lady Eagles fall in Tennessee
The Madison Southern girls basketball team was handed a 61-28 loss by Science Hill (Tenn.) on Friday at the Winterfest Shootout in Sevierville, Tenn.
Samantha Cornelison had 9 points and two rebounds. Macie Daniels had eight points and two rebounds. Skylar Sparks had four points. Morgan Flannery had three points and Sunni Walters had two points.
The Lady Eagles (5-4) are set to return to action today in the weekend tournament.
