Chad Fugate turned in a spectacular performance, but it wasn't enough to lead the Eagles (10-11) to a win on the road.

The senior hit seven three-pointers and scored 37 points as Madison Southern suffered a 88-79 loss Friday to West Jessamine in Nicholasville. Fugate also had six rebounds.

Samuel Lee and Nate Turner each finished with 11 points for the Eagles. Hunter Buchanan had eight points and Colby Sebastian had six points and seven assists.

Southern has lost four of its past five games.

The Eagles trailed by just a point in the final minute, but the Colts pulled away after a technical foul.

Fugate caught fire in the final period. He scored 23 points in the fourth, including five three-pointers.

Walt Smith had four points and Jonah Wooten added two points.

Southern was just 4-of-7 at the free throw line.

The Eagles are set to return to action today at home against Great Crossing.
