Kole Browne turned in another impressive offensive performance on Friday for Madison Central.
The junior guard had 26 points and seven rebounds as the Indians (12-15) built a big first-half lead and rolled past Walton-Verona, 70-58.
Central led 44-33 at halftime and pushed that advantage to as much as 21 points.
Browne had a career-high 37 points on Tuesday in an overtime loss at Lexington Catholic. He had 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting in the first half against Walton-Verona.
Central shot 50 percent for the game, including 64 percent in the first half.
Braeden Ray had 18 points for the Indians. Taishon Chenault had seven points. Kenyatta Hardge and Alex Rogers had five points each.
Trey Skaggs had four points, Jaylen Davis had three points and Luke Coleman had two points.
Central is set to return to action Monday at South Laurel.
Buchanan leads Southern
Hunter Buchanan led the way as the Eagles (13-13) snapped a two-game losing streak with a win Friday at home.
The senior guard was 8-of-13 from three-point range and had a game-high 24 points in a 74-60 win over Harlan County.
Chad Fugate had 18 points, five rebounds and five assists for Madison Southern, while Nate Turner had 16 points and three assists.
Southern had a 33-27 lead at halftime, then out-scored the Black Bears (19-8) 26-14 in the third quarter.
Jonah Wooten had five points and two assists. Samuel Lee had five points, three rebounds and two assists. Colby Sebastian and Walt Smith had two points each and Jay Rose added two points.
Southern is set to return to action today at Nicholas County.
Lady Pirates fall at Jackson County
The Lady Pirates couldn't recover from a rough start Friday on the road.
Jackson County took a double-digit lead in the first quarter and pulled away for an 89-62 win in McKee.
Alexis Newman had 12 points and Chesney Lovins had 11 points and four rebounds as Berea Community (13-13) suffered a third-straight loss.
The Lady Generals out-scored the Lady Pirates 32-14 in the second quarter.
Maddy King had nine points. Sophie Brewer and Mackenzie Howell had seven points each. Isis Rodgers had four points and four assists. Reagan Stepp, Madison Cummins and Abigial Beard had three points each. Emily Maynard had two points and Natalee Clark had one point.
Berea is set to return to action today at home against Red Bird.
