The Madison Central boys golf team turned in one of its best performances of the season on Saturday at the St. Xavier Invitational in Louisville.

The Indians took second place and finished just two shots off the lead.

The event was cut short by two holes because of rain.

St. Xavier took the team title, while Madison Central's Clay Pendergrass shot a -3 and won the individual championship.

Blake Maupin shot a -1 and tied for second place.

Cameron Travis shot a +5, Cooper Eberle shot a +9 and Heath Virgin shot a +11.

The 18-team event took place at the Big Spring Country Club.

The Indians are set to return to action on Tuesday at the Region 9 Tournament at Kearny Hill Golf Links in Lexington. Central has won the region title each of the past two years.

Model takes ninth at KGCA Invitational

The Model Laboratory boys golf team took ninth place on Saturday at the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association Invitational in Lexington.

The 15-team event was held at Lakeside Golf Course.

Mason Hamrick shot a +5, 77 and tied for 13th place. Thomas Luxon shot a +12, 84, and tied for 29th.

Caleb Ballard shot a +25, 97, and tied for 57th. Nate Feese shot a +28, 100, and tied for 61st and Austin Mattingly shot a +40, 102, and finished 71st.

Model finished with a team score of +70, 358.

Ballard and Lafayette both shot a +18, 306, to tie for the team title. Lafayette's Henry Lane (-4) won the individual title.

Model is set to return to action Tuesday at the Region 9 Tournament in Lexington.

Lady Patriots finish eighth

The Model Laboratory girls golf team finished eighth at the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association Invitational on Saturday in Lexington.

The event was held at Lakeside Golf Course.

The Lady Patriots had a team score of 388.

Abby Harrel shot an 81. Lydia Harrel shot an 86. Allie Shaffer finished with a score of 94 and Megan Perkins shot a 127.

Lesley Durr withdrew because of a back injury.

Dunbar (324) took the individual title. North Hardin (350) was second and Pulaski County (356) was third.

Dunbar's Casey Powell shot a 73 and took the individual title.

Model is set to return to action Monday at the Region 7 Tournament at Gibson Bay.
