The Madison Central boys golf team opened the 2020 season with a very strong performance on Friday in Lexington.

The Indians shot a +8, 296, and finished third at Lafayette Five Star Invitational.

The event was held at Picadome Golf Course.

Central's Clay Pendergrass tied for the lowest round of the day with two other golfers. The sophomore fired a -3, 69, and finished second after a scorecard match-up.

Dylan McGrath of Trinity took the title, while Seth Smith of Taylor County was third.

Taylor County claimed the team title with a -3, 285. Trinity was second at +3, 291.

Only seven golfers broke par — two of which were from Central.

Freshman Warren Thomis finished sixth after shooting a -1, 71.

Jacob Aldridge was 28th with a +5, 77. Gavin McKune shot a +7, 79 and finished 35th.

Bryce Snapp rounded out the scoring for Central with a +18, 90, which was 74th.

Central is set to return to action today at the Taylor County Invitational in Campbellsville.
