The Lady Eagles (9-9) extended their winning streak to three games with a 61-48 win over Bell County on Saturday afternoon in Berea.

Samantha Cornelison had 15 points to lead Madison Southern, while Skylar Sparks had 14 points and six rebounds.

The game was tied after the first quarter (12-12), but the Lady Eagles took a double-digit lead into halftime (27-17).

Southern shot 39 percent from the field, including 3-of-12 from three-point range, and was 18-of-32 from the free throw line. The Lady Eagles had 19 second-chance points.

Zaria Carter had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Anna King had six points. Reece Estep had four points and five rebounds. Aleigh Richardson had three points. Sunni Walters had two points and three assists. Jayla Wiseman, Emily Rowland and Caylen Conrad each had two points, while Haille Harrison added one point.

Southern is set to return to action Tuesday at home against North Laurel.

Madison Central falls to Clay County

The Lady Indians (6-11) had their three-game winning streak snapped by Clay County on Saturday night in Richmond.

Jekauri McKeithen had a double-double (15 points and 11 rebounds), but Madison Central fell behind early and suffered a 70-42 loss. The Lady Indians shot just 30.6 percent and had 19 turnovers.

Clay County ran out to a 10-2 lead and had a 13-4 advantage after the first quarter. The Lady Tigers were up 32-17 at halftime.

Clay County shot 53.7 percent from the field for the game and hit eight three-pointers. Kaylee Mathis had a game-high 34 points and hit four-of-six three-pointers.

Taleya Todd had seven points for Central. Kelsey Powell had five points and four rebounds. Zahrea Gill had five points and three rebounds. Logan Hudson had four points and five rebounds. Chloe Freeman had four points and Madison Barnard had two points.

Central is set to return to action Monday at home against Franklin County (14-5).
