The Lady Pirates couldn't put together a second-half rally against a very tough 11th Region opponent Friday at home.

Madison Howell had 10 points and four rebounds, but Berea Community (13-11) suffered a 51-34 loss to Lafayette (16-10).

Isis Rodgers had six points and six rebounds, while Chesney Lovins had six points.

The loss snapped Berea's two-game winning streak.

Lafayette had a 10-5 lead after the first quarter and took a 25-13 advantage into halftime. The Lady Pirates out-scored the Lady Generals 11-0 in the third quarter, but were unable to get any closer.

Madison Cummins had three points for Berea. Alexis Newman also had three points. Maddy King and Mackenize Howell had two points each.

Berea shot just 29 percent from the field, including 5-of-17 from three-point range. The Lady Pirates were 7-of-11 from the free throw line.

Berea is set to return to action Monday at Henry Clay.
