The Lady Eagles trailed by as much as 14 points early in the second half against Scott County (4-7) on Tuesday at McBrayer Arena.
They battled back, however, to force overtime.
Samantha Cornelison hit a three-pointer in the extra period and later added a free throw as Madison Southern (12-4) rallied for a 62-58 win.
Cornelison had a team-best 15 points, 11 rebounds and three assists, while Macie Daniels had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Tara Wooten had 14 points, including four three-pointers.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Lady Eagles.
Southern out-scored Scott County 23-13 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
The Lady Cardinals led 12-10 after one quarter but took a 30-18 lead into halftime. They led 32-18 in the third and had a 10-point advantage heading into the final quarter.
Southern shot 27.3 percent from the field for the game, including 9-of-36 from three-point range. They Lady Eagles were also just 17-of-30 from the free throw line and had 18 turnovers.
Scott County shot 28.6 percent from the field, hit 20-of-26 free throws and had 18 turnovers.
Southern is set to return to action Thursday at Bourbon County.
Lady Pirates fall to Lafayette
The Lady Pirates (6-5) trailed by only four points after one quarter on Tuesday against one of the top teams in the 11th Region.
That deficit quickly got bigger, though.
Lafayette (10-4) out-scored Berea 16-4 in the second quarter and rolled to a 57-44 road win. The Lady Pirates shot just 20.8 percent from the field in the first half, including 2-of-14 from three-point range.
Chesney Lovins had 10 points and seven rebounds for Berea, while Abigail Beard had 10 points and four rebounds. Madison Howell finished with eight points and Mackenzie Howell had four points.
Lafayette hit 7-of-11 three-point attempts in the first half. The Lady Generals had four players in double-figures, led by Anaya Brown (18 points and nine rebounds).
Berea was 7-of-26 from three-point range, hit 7-of-11 free throws and had 12 turnovers, which led to 15 points.
Mati Stepp had three points and four rebounds. Alexis Newman, Sophie Brewer and Isis Rogers had three points each.
The Lady Pirates are set to return to action Thursday at home against Pineville in the first round of the All "A" State Tournament.
