The Model Laboratory girls golf team took the title on Thursday at the George Rogers Clark Cardinal Classic in Winchester.

The Lady Patriots shot a 354 and edged out Clark County by one shot for the championship.

Lafayette was third with a team score of 376.

The event was held at the Winchester County Club.

Lydia Harrel led the way for Model. She shot an 83.

Allie Shaffer fired an 88, Natalie Knecht finished with a 91, Lesley Durr had a 92 and Amelia Harrel shot a 110.

Hannah Curreri of Clark County took the overall title with a round of 73.

Grace Walker (75) of the Christian Academy of Louisville was second and Isabella Christy (80) of Paintsville was third.

Madison Central had two golfers compete in the event.

Abi Buchanan shot a 99 and Haley Rice finished with a 101.

Golfers from Montgomery County, Rockcastle County, Mason County, Russell and Dunbar also played in the tournament.

Model is set to return to action Saturday at the Dunbar Invitational.
