Madison Central's Conner and Ciara O'Shea both ran away from the field on Saturday in the Franklin County Invitational at the Kentucky Horse Park.
Ciara O'Shea — a freshman — cleared the 5,000-meter course in 18:45.47 and won by more than a minute over Kaylee Wilson of Christian Academy of Louisville.
Conner O'Shea was even more dominant.
The senior posted a time of 15:59.72 and won by more than 18 seconds. Central sophomore Brady Masters finished second in a time of 16:18.06.
Led by O'Shea and Masters, Central took second place in the team standings.
Kyler Stewart was seventh in a time of 16:54. Wes Stokes took 18th in a time of 17:24, Marcus Hutchinson (17:45) was 42nd, Noah Halloran (18:21) was 88th and Austin Jacobson (18:38) was 103rd in 18:38.
Central had 69 points. Trinity took the title with a score of 52.
Ciara O'Shea won the Class 3A State championship last season. She has won both her races so far this season. Conner has also won both of the races he has entered this season.
In the girls middle school race on Saturday, Central's Jamie Gugel finished in 13th place with a time of 12:29. She was closely followed by Amilya Reynolds, who finished 16th, in 12:34.
