Four members of the Madison Central cross country team traveled to Centerville, Ohio this past weekend to compete in The Saturday Night Lights Invitational.
Ciara O’Shea finished sixth in the girls 5K run with a new personal-best and school record of 17:50. Her time was the second-fastest by a freshman ever on that course.
In the boys 5K race, Conner O’Shea finished third in a time of 15:19 — which was the seventh fastest all time on that course and also a new school record.
Brady Masters finished in 19th with a time of 15:58, which was the fourth fastest ever by a sophomore on that course. Kyler Stewart finished 36th, in 16:17. All 4 of these athletes finished with new personal bests.
The rest of the Central cross country team compete in the Wayne County Invitational.
In the girls 5K race, the Lady Indians were led by Amilya Reynolds, who finished 15th in 23:41. She was followed home by Jamie Gugel in 21st in 24:03. Other participants included DiAra Tabor, 48th in 28:05.
The boys were led by Wesley Stokes, who posted a fifth-place time of 17:41. He was followed by Marcus Hutchison in eighth (18:05), and Noah Halloran in 11th (18:11). Noah Huffman and Chase Rule were Central's No. 4 and 5 runners home in 33rd and 35th place. Dirk Gambrel, Nicholas Sundys, Carter Lamb, Tylan Lamb, and Luca Word rounded out Centrals team. The boys finished third out of 16 teams.
The Indians will have next weekend off and will be back in action Oct. 5 at The Greater Louisville Classic.
