The Madison Central boys cross country team rolled to a third-straight Class 3A, Region 7 championship on Saturday at Cave Lake Park in Monticello.

The Indians had the top three performers and easily beat out South Laurel (52 points) for the team title. Central finished with 28 points.

Senior Conner O'Shea took the individual championship for the second-consecutive year. He posted a time of 15:47.70 and out-distanced teammate Brady Masters (16:17.19) for first place. Central's Kyler Stewart (16:44.59) was third.

Central's Noah Halloran (17:42.42) finished eighth. Wesley Stokes (18:18.12) was 14th. Austin Jacobson (18:29.83) was 18th and Dirk Gambrell (19:06.77) was 28th.

Madison Southern's Ahmad Lahmer (21:37.71) placed 52nd and teammate Logan Akers (21:47.31) was 53rd.

In the girls Class 3A, Region 7 meet, Ciara O'Shea ran away with the individual title for the second-straight year.

The freshman - who won last year's Class 3A state title - posted a time of 18:56.80, which was almost a minute ahead of South Laurel's Phoebe McCowan.

Central's Amilya Reynolds (21:36.97) was 10th. Jamie Gugel (22:06.49) was 14th. Meredith Campbell (23:08.8) finished 21st. Diana Tabor (26:21.43) was 45th and Kaley Boyd (31:04.00) was 51st.

Central (90 points) finished third, just three points behind North Laurel. West Jessamine (46) took the team title.

The Central boys and girls teams both advance to the KHSAA Class 3A State Cross Country Championships, which are set for Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Model, Berea runners shine

The Model Laboratory and Berea Community cross country teams competed in the Class A, Region 5 Meet on Saturday at in Paris.

Both schools had a runner place in the Top 20 and qualify for the KHSAA Class A State Meet on Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Model's Colton Collier finished 12th in a time of 18:12.92, while Berea's Sawyer Bailey was 19th after posting a mark of 18:30.76.

Model finished seventh in the boys team competition with 158 points. Berea was ninth with 217 points.

Model's Chase Lochmueller (18:37.50) was 21st. Sahil Kutty-Poffenberger (19:52.10) was 41st. Chris Tioukalov (20:25.67) was 48th. Eddie Wollery (20:53.98) was 54th and Kaden Collier (25:04.92) was 72nd.

Berea's Braydon Thacker had a time of 19:33.99 and finished 38th.

Carlton Sears (20:55.46) was 55th. Eli Deaver (22:37.06) was 63rd. Levi Ferguson (24:26.60) was 70th and Nathan Fairchild (24:37.33) was 71st.

In the girls race, Berea's Riley Gullet (25:21.41) was 46th.

Model's Amelia Lainer (26:54.82) finished 52nd. Model's Carlie Dyer (28:45.25) was 59th and Madison Cole (29:22.82) was 62nd.

Berea's Jillian Whitt (27:17.75) was 57th and teammate Ainsley White (31:12.77) was 64th.
