The Berea Community baseball team fell to 0-4 on the season with a 14-4 loss to Nicholas County on Saturday at home.
The Bluejackets scored two runs in the first inning, added four runs in the second and pushed across six runs in the third. Nicholas County out-hit the Pirates, 16-3, and Berea had seven errors.
The Pirates scored three times in the fourth and once in the fifth.
Cameron Thompson was 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run. Koty Roberts walked twice and scored a run. Ty Thompson scored a run. Gavin Lamb was 1-for-3 with two RBI and Caleb Moore was 1-for-2 with a walk and scored a run.
Thompson pitched five innings, allowing 12 runs (five earned) and had seven strikeouts.
Berea is set to return to action Thursday against Frankfort in Lexington in the 11th Region All "A" Classic.
Model drops pair
The Model Laboratory baseball team fell to 0-4 on the season with a pair of losses on Saturday.
The Patriots fell to Paris, 13-7, then suffered a 13-0 setback to Owen County.
Model took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first against Paris and tied the game with two runs in second. The Greyhounds scored twice in the second as well, then added single runs in the third and fourth before scoring six times in the fifth inning.
The Patriots had four hits and three errors.
Jackson Brown was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Kayden Wade was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and scored twice. Connor Sayre was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Braden Renfro scored a run. Tyler Short was 1-for-4 and scored a run, while Beckett Parker-Noblitt, Grayson Eaves and Tyler Scarberry each also scored a run.
Brown pitched four innings, allowing 12 hits and seven runs with six strikeouts and three walks. Wade worked 1/3rd of an inning, allowing two hits, six runs (five earned) and two walks.
Sayre pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing two hits while striking out two.
Model is set to return to action Wednesday Bourbon County.
