H.S. SOFTBALL

Madison Southern softball player Alex Nash signed to play softball at Union College Thursday at the school. She is joined by her parents, Mike and Kelly Nash, left, sister Abbie Nash, Southern athletic director  Calvin Creech, Southern softball coach Brian Foley and assistant coach Sarah Williams.

Madison Southern second baseman Alex Nash has been a big part of the Lady Eagles’ success on the diamond the past three years.

Her play on the field for the Lady Eagles has earned her an opportunity to take her game to the next level next season.

The senior will continue her career as a member of the Union College softball team after signing a letter of intent with the Bulldogs at a ceremony Thursday at Madison Southern High School.

Nash has started for the Lady Eagles for three seasons.

During that span, Southern won 65 games — including last season’s 44th District title — and twice the Lady Eagles were district runners-up.

Nash has a career .336 batting average, with 49 singles, 26 doubles, one triple and four home runs as well as 49 RBI.
