The weather may have forced the cities or Richmond and Berea to reschedule Halloween activities until Saturday, but Madison County children will still get a chance to trick-or-treat tonight.
Eastern Kentucky University is set to play host to Halloween and Hoops.
An indoor trick-or-treat will be held from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in the auxiliary gym of Alumni Coliseum, with candy provided by EKU, the City of Richmond and Richmond Tourism.
At 7 p.m., the EKU men's basketball team will take on Berea College in an exhibition game.
Admission is free and trick-or-treaters and family are encouraged to stick around for the game and cheer on our local college teams.
The game will feature a costume parade and contest. EKU Dining will offer free popcorn to any child in costume or EKU gear.
The Colonels return three starters from last year's squad - sophomores Jomaru Brown, Houston King and Tre King. Brown was voted to the Preseason All-OVC Team after averaging 14.4 points-per-game (16.9 during conference play). Houston King ranked third in the OVC in three-point shooting percentage (42.7). Tre King played in all 31 games as a freshman and ranked second on the team in rebounds (137).
Second-year head coach A.W. Hamilton wants the Colonels to play even faster this year than they did last year. EKU ranked 13th nationally in scoring in 2018-19 (82.6), while ranking second in the country in both steals-per-game (10.2) and turnovers forced-per-game (18.2).
Berea College went 9-28 last season.
The two teams last met in November of 2016, with EKU scoring a 92-64 victory.
The Colonels open the regular season at home against Chattanooga on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Tip is schedule for 7 p.m.
