Madison Central standouts Ciara and Conner O'Shea closed out the 2018 cross country season recently with very impressive performances against some of the top runners in the state.
Last weekend, they competed in the Foot Locker South Regional at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, N.C.
Ciara O'Shea took first place in the girls 13-14 year-old division. She had a personal-best time time of 18:22 in the 5K event. She finished nearly 25 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher -- Ellie Hosafllook of Ripley, W.Va.
Conner took first place in the junior boys division. He posted a personal-best time of 15:59.3 and easily beat out Bryan Maynard of Falmouth (16:16) for the title.
Madison Central's Brady Masters placed eighth in the freshman boys race in a time of 16:56 and Central's Kyler Stewart was 31st in the junior boys race in a time of 16:52.
Ciara O'Shea, Conner O'Shea, Masters, Stewart and other Central runners completed at the Cross Country Coaches National Youth Championship on Nov. 17 in Louisville.
Ciara O'Shea posted a time of 14:35.9 in the 13-14 year-old girls 4K race. She won her age group and finished second overall.
Masters blew away the field in the boys 13-14 year-old competition. He posted a new course and meet record time of 12:59.8 in the 4K race.
He beat out Aidan Reyna for the individual title by almost 14 seconds.
Conner O'Shea took second place in the boys 16-18 year-old club race. He had a time of 16:00, which was behind only Jack Pendergrast (15:52.0)
Stewart (16:40.2) and Noah Halloran (17:18.5) both also posted new personal-best times during races at the event.
Stewart was also part of the 17-18 age group from Team Kentucky which took first place, beating the Brocaw Blazers.
