The Indians (14-1) twice found themselves trailing by a goal on Sunday during their match-up with Great Crossing in the first round of the 11th Region Tournament in Georgetown.
They battled back both times.
Gavin O'Shea scored with 5:15 left in regulation to gave Madison Central a 3-2 win over the Warhawks. O'Shea had two goals, giving him 25 on the season, and Sam Hughes had a goal and an assist.
The Indians advance to the 11th Region semifinals and will face defending state champion Henry Clay on Tuesday at Frederick Douglass High School Game time is set for 5:45 p.m.
Central and Great Crossing played two weeks ago on the same field, with the Indians picking up a 3-0 win.
The rematch played out much differently.
Great Crossings' Rodolfo Flores scored just 1:11 into the game.
That lead held up until almost halftime.
Hughes took a free kick and got the ball to O'Shea, who scored with 16 seconds left before the break.
Each team scored on a penalty kick in the second half.
Preston Welch beat Central sophomore keeper Thomas Fairchild with 20:38 left in regulation. Hughes answered just more than three minutes later after Chris LaGrange was fouled in the box.
LaGrange set up O'Shea for the game winner.
Central was 13-0 heading into the 44th District Tournament title game earlier this week in Richmond. Madison Southern beat the Indians, 1-0, to hand them their first loss of the season.
Henry Clay moved into the region semifinal with a 1-0 win over Lafayette on Sunday in Lexington. The Blue Devils (12-1) have won 10-straight matches.
The last meeting between the Indians and the Blue Devils was in the first round of the 11th Region Tournament. Henry Clay picked up a 4-1 win in Lexington.
