So proud of the schools in Madison County
I have worked for the Madison County Board of Education since graduation from EKU in 1969. I have never felt so proud as I do today of the manner in which our school system has "attacked" the coronavirus.
The last 5 years, I have been working as a substitute teacher at MKA. Let me tell you…it is a phenomenal place in which to be. I was there at the school last week as a sub, and witnessed something beyond my comprehension!!
On Friday, teachers and staff got word that our school was not going to be in session for the next four weeks -- the last week being the week of Spring Vacation.
In a matter of 7 hours, our principal, Jennifer Martin, 2 teachers, Shelby Brooks and Nicci O'Donnell, our Reading Interventionists, Monica Stacy and Amy Ferris, and our Math Interventionist, Nick Harris, met and devised a plan. NTI Day 4 and NTI Day 5 packets were prepared by all assistants. Google Classroom was set up for days starting Wednesday, March 18, until the beginning of Spring Break. Mr. Jordan, Kaitlyn, and Bryan worked all day and into the late afternoon activating student logins in order that each child would have access to Google Classroom from home.
By the end of the day, each student had in his/her white folder: 3rd nine weeks report card; NTI Days 4 and 5; Instructions for Google Classroom (and alternate plans for those families who do not have access to the internet).
SO IMPRESSIVE…actually beyond my comprehension. AND…Oh My Gosh…Madison County Food Service, Scott Anderson, cafeteria staff, and bus drivers at all schools…unbelievable what you have accomplished in the last few days!! Every child in Madison County 18 years or younger will have breakfast, lunch, and dinner until we are all together again. It is hard for me to even imagine. I salute each and everyone of you who work for the Madison County Board of Education and have worked diligently to accomplish this task.
Madison County Schools PROUD!! Without a doubt, one of the very best decisions I have made in my life was to become a teacher. A teacher is what I have always wanted to be. I am beyond blessed!

Our GOP Abandons America
The publicly available evidence to date shows that the President withheld Congressionally mandated military aid to an ally under military attack from Russia in an effort to get that ally to attack a personal political adversary of the President at home. Further publicly available information indicates that those who worked closely with the President are ready to provide additional testimony confirming the President's actions. But our GOP senators refuse to hear testimony on this. Rather, they hide behind the minority view espoused by the President's very able criminal lawyer (opposite to that which he uttered twenty years ago) that the President should not be thrown out of office for this; he can do it again. As Lord Acton summarized: "Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely." This is not the party of Robert A. Taft - or Dwight D. Eisenhower - or Ronald Reagan - or George H. W. Bush. Our current GOP senators read the Impeachment clause out of the Constitution. They abandon truth, principle and honor. They abandon America.
