Being blessed to raise children again in my forties, I'll pass along this month a suggested activity I trust your children will find as interesting and beneficial as have mine: Musikgarten.
Designed some 30 years ago by Dr. Lorna Heyge, Musikgarten divides its music courses of instruction from newborn to 18 months; 18 months to 3 years; and 3 to 5 years of age. Beginning with developing motor skills through music with newborns to toddlers, Musikgarten instruction then advances to recognizing beat and timing; and completing with reading musical notes.
After following the Musikgarten curriculum, your child will be ready for individualized piano or violin instruction.
I can personally attest to the quality of Musikgarten instruction in the Berea/Richmond area through the mother-daughter pair of Mrs. Laura Compton and Mrs. Elizabeth Sartor.
If you wish to introduce your youngsters to structured music lessons and their strong correlations with children's aesthetic appreciation and improved speaking and math skills, I wholeheartedly recommend these ladies and the Musikgarten Way.
A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to y'all!
